FERG BLURBS -- The Cranberries Have A Haunting New Song

April 19, 2019

The Cranberries, and lead singer Dolores O'Riordan in particular, were looking forward to the release of their latest album, and with the demo work done, the vocals laid out, and the studio work to follow, everyone was confident in what was to come with their latest endeavor. Unfortunately, tragedy struck in mid-January of 2018, when O'Riordan was found in her hotel bathtub, dead from what was later to be revealed as an accidental drowning

The other members of the band (Mike Hogan, Noel Hogan, Fergal Lawler) closed ranks, considered the future, and decided to continue with the work they had set out on with Dolores for what would ultimately be their final album. Come 2019, it was time to start revealing tracks, which they did with "All Over Now" and "Wake Me When It's Over" earlier this year.

And now, we have the title track, "In The End," the final song on an album which will be released next Friday (April 26th). Afterwards, the band members have agreed to discontinue as the Cranberries. And man, what a song to end this album on. According to SPIN magazine, this was the last song the band recorded before Dolores' untimely end.

Dolores' performance, as always, gives life to this airy, almost dream-like song, and is a picture perfect way to end the album. I can't wait to hear the whole thing next week.
