Billie Joe Armstrong and his Green Day bandmates burst back onto the music scene in 2016 when their album "Revolution Radio" hit, and the subsequent tour took them well into the middle of 2017. After the release of their greatest hits compilation, "God's Favorite Band," this past December, there was plenty of speculation as to what might be next for Green Day. It seems like Billie Joe couldn't wait.

The live-debut of Armstrong's new side project, The Longshot, was just this past weekend in Oakland, a week after their debut EP was released. According to NME, Armstrong is back to his punk rock roots with The Longshot, a band comprised of Green Day touring guitarist Jeff Matika on bass and vocals, Kevin Preston on guitar, David S. Field on drums and, of course, Billie Joe on guitar and vocals. Video has surfaced of their debut performance at 1-2-3-4 Go! Records in Oakland from Saturday night.

They sound pretty good, I think that Billie Joe, he's got some potential. He'll do okay for himself. Check out their studio stuff. I like this one from their EP.
